My name is Mike. I have Cerebral Palsy, a disability that impairs my muscle movements and my speech. I'm a songwriter, author, mixing engineer, and motivational speaker. I’m currently looking for an assistant to help me in person and online for 7-12 hours per week to start. Hours are flexible and can be adjusted around your schedule.
PERSONAL/PROFESSIONAL ASSISTANT
Main Objective: To assist Mike with business-related and daily living activities to enable him to lead a normal and productive life.
Supervised by: Mike
General Qualifications:
  • Willingness to perform personal, household, and business-related tasks.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to comfortably drive my van.
  • Dependability, sensitivity, flexibility, patience, physical strength, strong phone presence.
  • Ability to work either in person or virtually over skype.
You are a meticulous and proactive person who takes directions easily and also takes initiative when needed. You work well independently but you also love talking with people and establishing positive relationships. You are patient, open-minded, energetic, and willing to learn and be trained in my daily routine, even if you have little or no experience. You like to laugh and are able to find humor in even the challenging parts of life and have a tendency to remain calm in stressful situations.

General tasks include, but are not limited to:
  • Eating/drinking
  • Dressing- coat/sweatshirt, etc.
  • Personal/professional phone calls
  • Transcribe emails
  • Take notes on professional meetings/conversations
  • Researching online, via e-mail, or over the phone
  • Driving conversion van/operating lift
  • Assisting mike at the destinations- including writer’s nights, co-writing sessions, etc.
  • Paperwork
  • Errands
  • Daily text check-ins- ensuring Mike’s safety
  • Helping Mike recruit/hire additional support staff as needed
  • Following emergency procedures- if needed
Other tasks may include:
  • Maneuver wheelchair when needed
  • Performing basic maintenance on the wheelchair, etc.
  • Light housekeeping, occasionally assisting with laundry
  • Workout/Training routine
  • Other activities as needed
